Biography

She studied singing with Concepció Callao and early music with Safford Cape. In 1960, she debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu with Gounod’s Faust and Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. Nevertheless, she directed her career path towards specialized repertoires such as contemporary music, early music and Sephardic music. She premiered an important number of music by Catalan composers such as J. M. Mestres Quadreny, Joan Guinjoan or Carles Santos, while performing first auditions in Catalonia of music by composers such as John Cage, Pierre Boulez or Luciano Berio. She was interested in music theater and performed works such as Suite Bufa (1966) by Mestres Quadreny and Joan Brossa. She recorded contemporary music albums for several record labels, as well as many radio recordings of music by over fifty composers.
