Cercle Manuel de Falla
  • Year of establishment: 1947
    History:
In 1947, a few months after the death of Manuel de Falla, a group of composers sought alternatives to the city's musical isolation after the war. The members of this group were Joan Comellas, Albert Blancafort, Manuel Valls, Josep Casanovas, Josep Cercós, Juan Eduardo Cirlot, Àngel Cerdà, Jordi Giró, Anna Ricci and Josep Maria Mestres Quadreny. The group promoted concerts and conferences, as well as the short-lived publication Contrapunto. The group dissolved in the mid-1950s.
