He studied at Conservatori del Liceu, where he showed outstanding abilities in the disciplines of fugue and counterpoint. He taught at that conservatory and later at Escola Normal de Barcelona. He published important methods of music teaching together with Joaquim Zamacois and Pere Serra, e.g., Arte práctico de solfeo. He composed multiple works, including light music that he signed under the pseudonym Andrés Uerba.
