Biography

Composer, pianist, teacher and music theorist 

He studied at the Conservatori del Liceu, where he was later a professor. He taught and was headmaster of the Conservatory Municipal de Barcelona (1945-1965) after the renaming of the institution. He composed cuplets for artists like Pilar Alonso and Raquel Meller (under the pseudonym I. Casamoz). Later, he composed orchestral music such as La sega (1928), as well as chamber music and zarzuelas. He created a number of theory, history and music criticism written works, among which the manuals Método LAZ were used as textbooks in many Spanish and Latin American conservatories.
