Biography

Composer

She studied composition under F. Sánchez Gavagnach in addition to singing a and violin. At the age of eighteen she composed the opera Schiava e Regina, which was awarded at the Universal Exhibition of Chicago in 1893. Due to the anarchist attack of 1893 at Gran Teatre del Liceu the opera was not premiered, but it was partially performed at the Royal Palace of Madrid in 1894. The score was considered lost for many years but was finally found in 2017. She also composed other operas such as I briganti, symphonic music such as Twilight (1893), and over a hundred lieder. Her marriage to Enrique de Sorarrain Milans when she was 21 made her disappear from public life, and little is known about her life and creative activity after that.
