Composer

In addition to studying law, he studied piano and composition under Pere Tintorer, Francesc Brunet and Domènec Mas i Serracant. He is known for his work as critic in periodicals such as El Correo Catalán, where he worked for over fifty years. He was acquitted to the cultural circle of the Renaixença, and made collaborations with Apel·les Mestres and Jacint Verdaguer setting his poems to music. Examples of this collaboration can be found in "La cançó de maig" and "Voreta la mar", which were popularized at Liceu and Orfeó Català. He composed vocal, piano, chamber and stage music.
