Tenor and Composer 

He started his musical education in the chapel of Torredembarra with Isidor Hernández Recasens, with whom he learned harmony, counterpoint and solfège. He studied philosophy and medicine and, in 1832, he began vocal studies with Joan Goula. In 1836, he debuted (together with his wife Catalina Mas) at the Teatre de Palma with V. Bellini’s Norma. He performed in several theaters of the Iberian Peninsula. In 1842, he lost his voice due to an illness and decided to devote himself to conducting and composition. From 1853 onwards, he conducted the choir of the Gran Teatre del Liceu. His output includes El Trovador (1843) and Missa de Glòria (1866), premiered in the church of Santa Maria del Pi.
