He not only was a music critic for Las Provincias (Valencia) from 1898 but he was also war journalist in the 1920s. Furthermore, he published numerous books such as El anillo del nibelungo (1902) and biographies of Beethoven and C. Franck, among others. He took part in the most renowned artistic circles of Valencia. From 1910, he was professor of Aesthetics and Music History at the Conservatori Superior de Música of Valencia. His output has a nationalist aesthetics and Impressionist influences, such as can been seen in Acuarelas valencianas (1910). He studied Valencian folklore and worked in the Obra del Cançoner Popular de Catalunya.
