Biography

Musician, businessman, composer and conductor

Brother of Paquita Madriguera, he studied at the Conservatori del Liceu and with Joan Manén. As a child prodigy, he soon performed as a soloist with the Boston and Chicago Symphony Orchestras. He was granted a scholarship by the Aeolian Company and studied with prominent musicians such as Leopold Auer and Jascha Heifetz, among others. An accident in his left hand prevented him from advancing in his career as a violinist, and led him to seek new horizons. That culminated in the creation of Enric Madriguera and his Orchestra in 1929 New York, one of the most prominent Latin music groups of its time. Furthermore, he developed an important work in American record companies. He composed dance pieces, some of which were performed and danced by prominent figures such as Glenn Miller.
