Cobla Barcelona
-
Year of establishment: 1921
Year of dissolution: 1977
History:
In 1921, Joan Lamote de Grignon promoted the creation in Barcelona of a cobla with musicians from the Empordà area. The ensemble was presented on 30th March 1922 at Teatre Tívoli during a performance of the zarzuela Marina. The creation of this ensemble meant the consolidation of a cobla beyond the regions of Empordà and La Selva. Disagreements within the ensemble led Albert Martí, one of its most prominent musicians, to abandon the ensemble and create Cobla Barcelona-Albert Martí in 1929. The Cobla Barcelona continued its trajectory and made several recordings until its dissolution in 1977.
