After his early music education in El Vendrell, he studied cello, harmony, counterpoint and piano at the Conservatori de Barcelona under Garcia Robles, Rodoreda and Costa Nogueras. Between 1898 and 1909, he was the first cello at Liceu Orchestra and cello professor at the Conservatory of the same institution. He offered numerous concerts throughout the year, some of them within the Wagnerian Association (including cycles devoted to Beethoven) and some others within the Associació Musical. He was part of renowned chamber music groups together with Granados, Malats or Crickboom. Between 1909 and 1920, he lived in Milan, where he worked at the opera house and offered concerts that enjoyed great success. Back in Barcelona in 1920, he was the first cello at the Pau Casals Orchestra, was engaged in private teaching and was part of film orchestras. In addition, he also developed his skills as tenor, even performing Beethoven's Ninth Symphony of as a soloist.
