Biography

Guitarist, composer, teacher

He started as a self-taught guitarist, and later studied with Josep Casas and took lessons with Dionisio Aguado. Established in Barcelona as a military man in 1833, he was recognized as an outstanding teacher who taught to figures such as Felip Pedrell or Josep Ferrer. He was pedagogically based on Aguado's Nuevo Método para guitarra. He composed over twenty pieces for guitar, especially fantasies and waltzes, a selection of which was published in 1885. His style has been considered one of the foundations of Francesc Tàrrega's work.
