Composer

He was a choirboy at the school of the cathedral of Barcelona, under Marraco and Candi, and later studied with Pedrell, Morera and Granados. He combined his jobs as organist and Kapellmeister in various Barcelona churches with teaching and academic tasks at the Granados Academy (later named Marshall). Furthermore, he was conductor and member of various journals and commissions of sacred music. He centered his musical production to sacred music. His best-known pieces include Missa de Rèquiem, children songs, arrangements of traditional songs collected in La cançó popular a tret de mainada, and some chamber and symphonic compositions. Some of his students became renowned pedagogues and composers.
