    History:
    Created in 1963 on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of tenor Francesc Viñas. Over the years, it has become a prestigious vocal competition aimed at young opera singers from around the world and is held annually in January, at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. This competition is part of the World Federation of International Music Competitions. Throughout its history prominent singers were awarded, such as Enedina Lloris, Vicenç Sardinero, Kurt Rydl, Luis Lima, April Milo, Ewa Podlés, Sumi Jo, Isabel Rey, Olga Borodina, Violeta Urmana, among others.
