Biography

He was the son of the composer Manuel Blancafort. He began his musical studies in Barcelona where he was one of the founders of the Manuel de Falla Circle. Thanks to a scholarship from the French Institute, he studied in Paris with Nadia Boulanger and later studied conducting with Sergiu Celbidache and Igor Markévitx. He was conductor of the choir of Radio Nacional de España. In 1958, he founded the RTVE Choir and was its conductor for over 35 years. He composed works such as Sonata per piano and Sextet.
