He learned music with the Geneuphonia method by José Joaquín Virués Spinosa and was self-taught. He was gifted both as flutist and guitarist. He worked in maritime commerce and homeopathic medicine. His output includes music for the piano, for voice and piano and choir, as well as sacred and stage music. One of his most relevant compositions is Arnaldo di Erill premiered at Liceu in 1859. Among his songs, Barcarola has become particularly relevant (currently known as La calma de la mar). He also wrote short plays.
