Biography

Soprano

She studied under Jordi Albareda and Enric Gispert and collaborated from early on with Ars Musicae. In the mid 1960s, she studied at Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and specialized in ancient music singing. She was a funding member, together with her husband Jordi Savall, of internationally renowned ensembles such as Hespèrion XX, La Cappella Reial de Catalunya and Le Concert des Nations. With these ensembles, she performed and recorded music in Europe and America. She specialized in HIP (historically informed performance) with a wide repertoire that included from Medieval up to 19th-century music and won many awards. Her performance of Cant de la Sibil·la has been widely praised.
