Biography

Composer and pianist

She began her music education with her aunt. Later, she studied at the Conservatory of Valencia with Vicent Asencio (harmony, composition), who would become her husband in 1943. From 1974 to 1989 she taught at Conservatory of Valencia and devoted herself also to glass painting. As a composer, she composed chamber, vocal and scenic music. She premiered her opera Vinatea at the Gran Teatre del Liceu, and was renowned for songs, such as Planys, cançons i una Nadala (1945-1964) or Cervantinas (1975). She is considered one of the leading figures of Valencian music of the second half of the 20th century.
