Biography

Illustrator, pedagogue and musician

He abandoned his medical career to help his father Josep Gols i Veciana. He was a versatile artist who developed his musical activity alongside with that of illustrator and pedagogue. Particularly relevant in his musical career was his task as conductor of the music chapel of Santa Maria del Mar in Barcelona and his research field trips for Obra del Cançoner Popular de Catalunya.

After the Civil War he lived in exile in Venezuela, where he promoted various initiatives including the creation of the Coral Catalana de Caracas (1942). He composed songs and sardanas and wrote literary works. He also translated works of the World literature into Catalan.
