Composer and conductor

He studied with Jeroni Parera and Joaquim Pascual in Vilanova i la Geltrú and later with Gabriel Balart and Joan Carreras in Barcelona. In Vilanova, he joined the Capella de Música de Sant Antoni as a performer and in 1861, he was appointed Kapellmeister of the parish of Marina. In 1865, he founded the Centre Artesà de Vilanova and the orchestra of Teatre Principal, and three years later the Casa d’Empara Band. He conducted the choral society Unió Musical of Vilanova from 1867 to 1869. His compositions include religious and chamber music, as well as dance music, including innovative habanera and americana dances. In addition, he founded Apolo music publishing house.
