Composer

Son of the homonymous writer, he began his studies under Cristòfor Taltabull. He was Initially interested in B. Bartók's contributions but gradually absorbed other styles and languages such as serialism (e.g. in Cantata d'Amic i Amat, 1959). The premiere in 1988 of Llibre Vermell de Montserrat at the Gran Teatre del Liceu and its performances around Europe, gave him a great international renown. His catalogue includes a wide range of genres. In 1977 he won the Luigi Dallapiccola Prize and in 2014, he was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi.
