Orfeó Manresà
  • Year of establishment: 1901
    History:
This institution was born in 1901 as a result of the enthusiasm of the Regional League and the Catalan Workers' Association in the capital of Bages. Conducted initially by Manuel Jovés, the stage of Josep Maria Descarga as conductor stands out especially, during which important symphonic-choral productions were promoted. Throughout its history, it has performed in important auditoriums such as the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Sala Smetana in Prague, the Gran Teatre del Liceu and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 1989, under the direction of Jordi Noguera, he won a First Prize in the competition of the Prague Symphony Orchestra for his performance of Claudio Monteverdi's Madrigals, achieving significant international recognition.
