History:
Gothic Basilica built between 1329 and 1383 by Berenguer de Montagut i Ramon where musical activity quickly developed. Surviving documental evidence dates from 1532 and includes the confirmation of Pere Cubells as its Kapellmeister. From this point forward, musicians taking that position include prominent figures of Catalan music such as Miquel Rosquelles, Josep Gaz, Francesc Valls and Francesc Andreví. After the 1930s, the chapel’s activity stopped, and was only resumed with the help of Enric Gispert until its final dissolution in 2003.
