Biography

Pianist, composer and pedagogue 

He studied with Bernat Calvó Puig at the Escolania of La Mercè and with Pere Tintorer. He refused the posts of organist at the Mercè and of Santa Anna, in Barcelona, to devote himself to performance and education. He founded the Societat de Quartets of Barcelona and the Wagnerian Association of Barcelona and contributed to the foundation of the Orfeó Català. Furthermore, he worked as accompanying pianist of performers such as Pablo de Sarasate. His output includes mainly piano and religious music, as well as chamber music. He composed Trio (1869) and the cantata Catalunya (1877).
